Happy September! We have been settling into our new house and we are really enjoying it here. We met our new neighbors who asked if I would want to babysit monarch caterpillars and get to experience the whole process. Which, of course, I said yes to! They had a little mesh box that they kept them safe in with water and milkweed leaves that we would replace daily. It felt like we were reading A Very Hungry Caterpillar every single day, man, they eat a lot in preparation to become chrysalis, and then butterflies. It was fascinating watching, and learning all about them and their growth. The most amazing part, of course, was watching the butterflies emerge and then fly away. Next year I hope to get to do this all over again and photograph the whole thing to share!
